What we learned: Raiders game week 14

Well we won, finally. Here is what we learned

There is almost NO WAY that Butker was not a steal. He scored 14 points. That's right he scored over half of the points on Sunday. He started out hitting one from 53 yards, and just kept banging them out. Great job on this kid so far by Veach and Toub.

Our red zone offense is still struggling. The offense only scored twice in the red zone all day Sunday. A one yard run by Kareem Hunt, and a 13 yard touchdown by Charcandrick West. They had five red zone possesions and were only able to capitalize on two of them. Moving it up and down the field is only as effective as being able to score.

Alex Smith played well enough to warrant staying a starter for now...
He was 20/34 for 268 yards and an interception. This game was weird for either version of Alex we have seen so far this year. He took some deep shots and hit them well, but some of these short throws he completely overthrew. He didn't completely hinder the offense Sunday, but he didn't help it either.

              Travis Kelce made himself known.
He had seven receptions for 74 yards and nearly two more scores. One score was nulified by a penalty on Schwartz, and the other he was ruled down at the one which opened it up for Kareem Hunt to run in. He did have a dropped pass, and a pass that he should have been able to catch (I think there may have been some holding based on the sudden slow down we saw, but I need to re watch to be sure.) Overall he did well.

               Hill had an okay day.
Hill had four receptions for 75 yards. He did seem really quiet though.

Demetrius showed some potential and the reason why some people are sick of him too.
Harris had one catch that he took for 25 yards and broke some tackles along the way. Later in the game he also had a pass hit his hands that he just didn't catch. so he kinda broke even on that front.

                  They ran with West.
It seemed like for most of the season West would only come in on passing downs, and that is how defenses would know that it was a pass play. This week he had three carries for 25 yards. Ny having him run the ball you give defenses one more thing to worry about.

                  Terrance Mitchell played very well.
He had four tackles, and interception, and three passes defensed. He played really well. Whether it was because he was the number one or not is left to be determined next week.

                   SACKS ARE BACK!!!!
Justin Houston, Jarvis Jenkins, and Chris Jones got sacks on the day, and Carr never really seemed comfortable in the pocket.

                    Chris Jones woke up
Chris Jones had three combined tackles, a sack, and a swat to open up the interception for Terrance Mitchell.

The Removal theory has more viability.
There is a theory that whenever you take out someone you rely on that your team could get better. There will be a full article on this later in the week, so be sure to check in. But without Peters the secondary did very well.
