Picks for the Saturday Night Chargers game 12/15/17

   
What's on the line?

This is gonna be the real divider for the Chiefs this season isn't it? This is now looking like probably the most important game of the season. If the Chiefs lose this one I think we can talk about being out of the playoffs this year. The Chargers remaining schedule is at the Jets in week 16, and at home against the Raiders for week seventeen. What does this mean? It means that if we see the version of the Chiefs from the Bills game or the Giants game we are most likely not even making the playoffs this year. If they lost this game they would have to compete with the Bills and the Ravens for the last wildcard spot (assuming that Tennessee doesn't just fall off a cliff.) In which case the Bills would probably be beaten out, but like the last time we missed the playoffs the Ravens would take that spot. If the Chiefs can win this game, I believe they could win out and possibly still get to the divisional round with the Patriots and the Steelers. This is the hardest game on their schedule. They don't win here seasons's over, start Mahommes period.

What to look for...

1 Look for Eric Berry to possibly be on the sideline supporting his guys. He is still a leader of that defense, and these guys don't want to disappoint him.
2 Look for Chris Jones moving a lot. It worked against the Chargers earlier in the year, and last week also. I think that Sutton is going to move him around a lot.
3 Look for more press coverage from the corners as that is how they best play, and I think Sutton is finally starting to realize that.
4 Marcus Peters. This is probably going to be the Chiefs defensive player to watch this week. Peters is back and facing off against his old nemesis, Keenan Allen. Also look for him to try and pick off Rivers. He hasn't had a single take away since the Broncos game. He's gonna be hungry for one.
5 A deep shot early and more in the middle attacks. Tyreek should be used to loosen up that secndary and those linebackers and then Kelce and Hunt will tear the apart from the middle.
6 The offensive line. Whether it is run or pass blocking this unit will have a lot on their hands with Ingram and Bosa.

My Key players of the game

Offense: Albert Wilson, or Kareem Hunt. Both are going to be people that will get overlooked in coverage. Expect Smith to try to hit them on passes (assuming they keep Hunt in on passes.

Defense: Marcus Peters. When he is matched up on Allen that is going to be a good showing. When he's not he will probably try to make the pick.

Special Teams: Butker. He's an absolute steal and may end up being the leading scorer on the day.


My Pick


 Both of these teams will hopefully be highly motivated. This should hopefully be a competitive game, and I'm not sure who to choose. I think it is going to be a low scoring game, with kickers being in the spotlight. Chiefs 24 Chargers 21
